From the article: 'Outlook for Mac does not currently support CalDAV or CardDAV. This means that it is not possible to synchronize your Outlook on the web Outlook.com, iCloud, Gmail calendar or contacts with Outlook 2016 for Mac.' Wow, this is a show-stopper for me! On Outlook for Windows, I can set up Outlook.com as an ActiveSync client and get full sync support for email, calendar and contacts.Outlook 2016 on Mac doesn't allow ActiveSync even to consumer cloud services that support it, nor does it support CalDAV/CardDAV.
So there is no way to sync calendar and contacts from the various popular cloud services. (And unless I'm missing it, there's no way to import contacts as a CSV file or similar.)I sure hope Microsoft fixes this soon. Especially since Outlook for Windows CAN do this in many cases.
Upgraded to MS Office 2016 (now at v15.18) on my 17' MacBook Pro and installed the latest service pack as recommended for Exchange 2010 to work with this Outlook upgrade. When I open Outlook 2016 it works ok for a while then changes to a 'Sync pending for this folder' status.Outbound emails seem to be processing correctly, but the inbound folders do not update so I don't know when new email arrives unless I check it on my phone or open the old Outlook 2011 version.Has anyone else run into this and/or found a resolution? I was able to solve my problem in Outlook 2016. I don't know if this would solve yours but this is what I did:1. Turn on logging for troubleshooting (Tools - Sync Errors - Gears icon in the right)2. Close Outlook completely and then open it, let it run until the loop begins.3.
Analyze the log file. I was able to see the pattern of the item not being synced, it turned out to be a Cancellation Meeting request that was corrupted, but the logs provided a ItemID.4. Unfortunately, is not possible to search by ItemID, only through EWS (Exchange Web Services) so I had to do a small project using C# to logging, search for the item and delete it.5. Once I did that, just closed all instances of outlook and the remaining items started syncing.Hope any of this helps. Hi,I have a similar issue with Outlook:Mac 2011.
The status bar keeps showing 'Downloading attachments0/1' then 'Sync pending for this folder'. It just keeps cycling, about once a second and is very annoying.I've turned on error logging but there are no errors logged. I am considering uninstalling Outlook:Mac and all files, then reinstalling but I think that's a fairly drastic solution and I don't know if it will solve the issue since it's related to syncing. To make reinstalling more difficult, Microsoft no longer allow downloading the 2011 (or 2013) versions, so I'll need to dig out the backup disc.I have nearly 6,000 items in my email going back 10 years, so I guess the error could be in any of them. It appears that updating to the latest version won't help either, so my options seem to be use Mail or the (rather awful) browser version.Any other hints?
